dream a bit bigger darling is a multi-stage alt ctrl project that started in 2015. Originally constructed by Amanda Throws Rocks in collaboration with Amy Hudgins, the project had a further iteration utilizing concepts from r25th.

This game because functionally discontinued in 2023 as the bed was given to an actual child, though the chicken wire structure still exists.

Design
There are two principal iterations to dream a bit bigger darling. The first iteration was shown at the inaugural Rules and Play show and was a 4 ft by 3 ft installation hung on the ceiling. Later iterations, including ones shown regionally in Kentucky as well as further on at MAGFest included a bed.

Version 1
The initial version of dream a bit bigger darling was constructed out of a 4 foot by 3 foot rectangle of chicken wire, suspended from the gallery ceiling, with several hundred feet of flagging tape stapled onto the structure so that it hung like stalactites.

The interactive element was a combination of an LED light strip and a malfunctioning audio sensor that instead appeared to detect distance. These were connected with jumper cables into a project box with an Arduino that was hidden on the side facing the ceiling.

Version 2
For a second, larger version that was also displayed at a Rules and Play 2016 event the flagging tape/chicken wire structure was affixed to a preexisting pink princess bed from Walmart. This version (colloquially referred to as “the bed game”), had a chicken wire structure that was the length of a twin bed and filled with a flagging tape cut to be in the shape of a large wave - from 6 feet to one foot long. The bed was then “made” with white sheets, a mattress protector (because this is a public gallery) and other white bedding.

The interactive element was 9-12 yards of LED light strip, affixed to the top of the chicken wire structure with zip ties and an ultrasonic range finder that was placed near the pillow at the head of the bed. The intention was to register movement and make the bed respond in kind - less movement and the lights above the bed would make a blue space and more movement would create a red space. The other components were placed in a project enclosure on top of the chicken wire, jump-cabled to a project board and an arduino. This was a common failure point, as the jump cables would disconnect and would have to be re-attached.

Version 3
The (currently) final iteration of the bed was shown at MAGFest 2020 as a part of Indie Arcade and featured the bed and it’s flagging tape/chicken wire structure, only this time it harvested the LED’s, computer and controller from the Glow Orb, playing “the thunderstorm cradled us softly as we drifted off to sleep and it felt as if everything would resolve itself.”
Centenntable is a 100 button arcade fighter made by Amanda Throws Rocks and Super Soul. There are three main iterations of the title - an original modified table, a travel version, and a cabinet version made by Arcade Commons.

In addition there is a version of the game that is playable on four keyboards.
Gameplay
Centenntable is an unique 100 button fight stick where each player has 50 buttons. Every button does one of a few different options – an attack or attack sequence, a visual effect on the player, a visual effect on the space, a change to the soundtrack, or a physical object that is added to the space.

Design & Construction
The original Centenntable is built into an IKEA tabletop that was found at a Goodwill store. It originally came with two stools, these have not made an appearance since 2016. The original game was hand drilled with 100 individual holes.

After this the surface was covered in Sharpie doodles, and then a layer of polyurethane. Then (and this is not advisable), the holes were individually filled with candles and a bar top epoxy coat was laid on top of that. To then remove the candles, they were set on fire. Again, do not do this.

The buttons used were all SUZO-HAPP knock-offs from Amazon, which were then connected to knock-off Arduino Mega-2650’s. The boards were placed inside of screw mounts (originally intended for servers) and then were individually wired to the buttons using spade connectors. The ground wires were daisy chained together to decrease the intensity of the cord-spaghetti, and then the rest of the wiring was routed through custom 3D printed set ups that resemble toe separators for pedicures.

This was connected to a mini-PC, and while the PC was left effectively free floating, the rest of the set up was hidden behind a piece of fabric.
Centenntable has made an appearance at a few shows since it’s initial creation for a 2016 Lexington, Kentucky based art show (Rules and Play).
Vestigial is a single player "Quad-stick" action mech-style arcade game made by Robin Lloyd-Miller and others.

Gameplay
Description
In Vestigial, the player assumes the role of a gargantuan plant monster (unnamed), whose goal is humanity's destruction. The player pilots the monster using "tank-style" controls to move, and can aim each arm to fire individually at targets. The player can pickup different powerups such as lasers and missiles. The game features four levels, that repeat and get harder. The game ends when the player loses three lives.
Tips & Tricks
There are several mechanics that are not mentioned in the attract mode.
* Dashing
** Dashing into an enemy or building will damage it.
** Dashing into enemy skulls or into blinking building debris will kick the object towards a targeted enemy, and explode on it.
* Firing
** Holding down triggers will make the arm fire faster, but the accuracy will also decrease.

Design & Construction
Cabinetry
Vestigial was a custom designed and built from scratch arcade cabinet. There are two versions.
Version 1
Completed in 2022, The first version was a standing arcade cabinet built primarily from 3/4" Maple plywood. The wood was primarily carved by a CNC endmill. The stickers are laminated and were printed by Sammel Group in Vermont. The video protective layer uses 'smokey' tempered glass.

The computer is a UDOO Bolt V8. The Joysticks plug, using DE-9 Connectors, into a custom board designed as a hat for a Arduino Pro Micro.

The Audio is a Logitech Z333 2.1 system, with the subwoofer in the bottom. The TV is an LG 24LM520D-WU.

Version 1 also features a coin door mech.

Version 2
completed in early 2025, The second version is a Bartop arcade cabinet built primarily from 3/4" Maple plywood. The wood was primarily carved by a CNC Endmill. The stickers were printed by Hall of Grafx in Rhode Island. The video protective layer uses 'smokey' tempered glass.

The Computer is also an UDOO Bolt V8. This cabinet cannibalized the Microcontroller and Joysticks from the first version.

the Audio interface is T-Molding's Arcade Game Audio Kit. The TV is also an LG 24LM520D-WU.

Custom Joysticks
Vestigial has two custom joysticks manufactured by SureGrip Controls. The joysticks have a face button, a trigger button, and an analogue thumbstick. They are one off joysticks and will likely never be manufactured again.

Accessibility
Vestigial Version 2 had an updated build which implements accessibility features which can be set using a QR scanner.
* Colorblind settings
* Toggle shooting vs holding triggers.
* removing screen shake.
History
In 2020, RunJumpDev acquired 8 claw machines from an auction in Beaver Falls, PA. These cabinets were then transported back to Kentucky. Due to the pandemic, work was stalled for a little bit before proposals were accepted for what the cabinets would become. This was cataloged in this video.
Featured Cabinets
One cabinet was returned to factory settings and functioned as a standard claw machine throughout the main event, dispensing random plush animals as well as local goods. The remaining seven machines were constructed into six projects.
The Claw was a 2022 presentation of 8 customized art claw machines in Lexington, KY at the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center. This was a part of RunJumpDev’s Rules and Play series of alternative controller shows.
